Chef’s Table by Jonas Messer at the Boutique Hotel Glacier in Grindelwald presents to you a single table in the wine cellar, seating up to eight guests. A fine dining experience where every ingredient has its place and purpose and is treated with the utmost care to highlight its purest flavours.
Our 8-course tasting menu is perfectly curated by Chef Jonas Messer and his team based on the season’s bounty and beauty. Finest meats, poultry, fish and vegetables get refined by house-made sauces and delectable sides. By revisiting ancient cooking techniques and forgotten ingredients, we take you on a culinary journey through the history of the Glacier.

Grindelwalder Jonas Messer is Head Chef at the Glacier since the reopening in 2018.
His love and passion for food, aromas and techniques shine in every dish. His philosophy is simple: with the brigade and selected suppliers, accentuate the origin and aroma of the products to create an exciting symbiosis on the plate and in the palate.
Together with his team of 7 people, the following products are created, tasted & tested.
History of the dining room
The Chef’s Table takes place in the heart of Glacier. Dating back to around 1700, all four layer-stone walls of this room used to be the outside walls of the building. The oldest room of the hotel was originally a sheepfold, later many other uses were added, until today where it serves as a wine tasting room and the Chef’s Table.
The 8-course menu can be paired with harmonious or surprising wines, juices, beers & cocktails. An extensive international wine list with a focus on Swiss, old worlds wines or a cocktail list with an outstanding selection will leave no wish open.
Non-alcoholic pairing is also available with a variation of wild grown juice, infusions and teas. Each pairing has a twist!

Those options are not available. The menu includes many components that include meat, wheat, milk, nuts, fish and other allergens. Our A-la-Carte Restaurant offers however more options.

Please let us know as soon as you know your will be late! Punctuality is essential and the menu is starting with all guests together around the table. Priority is given to the guests that are on time. Late guests will start with the course served at the table at the time of arrival.

We recommend you offer your reservation to a friend or relative, who wishes to replace you. In extreme cases, we will try to accommodate you with our waiting list. In case of not being able to find a substitute, it will be treated as a no-show.
Younger guests can enjoy the same menu as adults. We do not offer a special kids menu at the Chef’s Table. Our gastronomic approach is tailored for adults and due to limited space, we can not offer space to baby carts or chairs.
Yes, you can skip plates, but every tasting menu has the same price whether or not you choose to miss courses.
We take only reservations through our online booking system. All available dates and seats are bookable online. Your reservation is not confirmed until you have provided all mandatory informations in the booking process and received a confirmation email.
